A young man was detained in a supermarket in the suburbs of Atlanta with six firearms, including an assault rifle and a pump-action shotgun, police said in the capital of Georgia.
The incident took place two days after a supermarket massacre in Colorado, and a week earlier, an armed man shot and killed several people in massage parlors in Atlanta.
The 22-year-old detainee, identified as Rico Marley, carried weapons and ammunition and was wearing a bulletproof vest.
It is not known whether the suspect intended to carry out the attack at the Publix supermarket. However, he was charged with attempted assault and illegal possession of a firearm, after which the man was detained.
