“A miracle he’s healthy”
Martin Sheen is proud of his son Charlie
Alcohol and drug escapades, a clandestine HIV illness and allegations of domestic violence – the Charlie Sheen scandals seemed to be going on for a while. That he survived the time borders on a miracle, says his also famous father Martin now.
He was once considered the biggest scandal in Hollywood, but Martin Sheen is proud of his son Charlie. The 55-year-old has struggled with alcohol and drug problems in the past. Martin Sheen said in an interview with “People” magazine: “I admire him.” He “always, always loved” Charlie. And the actor added, “His recovery and life are a miracle and he is an extraordinary man.”
“We went through some very difficult times, everyone knows, when he was out there,” said the 80-year-old Apocalypse Now star: “He’s come back – thank goodness – and he’s healthy and working on a book. ” It is an autobiography. In addition to working on it, his son is focused on his family, children and grandchildren, explained Martin Sheen. Charlie Sheen has been married three times and has five children.
Alcohol and drugs are a thing of the past
In 2016, Charlie Sheen spoke on a TV show about how he had gotten rid of alcohol and drugs for years until he relapsed after being diagnosed with HIV. He had already lost his job in the hit series “Two and a Half Men”. In the meantime, the actor is apparently fine again. In 2018 he announced that he had been clean and dry for a year, and a year later he declared that he was proud to be “finally consistent and reliable”. Charlie Sheen has also given up smoking, as he announced on social media in 2020.
Charlie Sheen made public in a TV interview in November 2015 that he was HIV positive. He had found out about it about four years earlier, he said at the time. “I wanted to give myself the ball,” he admitted in 2016 in an interview with “Good Morning America”. “But my mother was there. I wouldn’t do this in front of her or let her find me.” Several women have sued the actor. They accuse him of having sex with them without telling them about his illness.
