Andy Ruiz def.Chris Arreola via unanimous decision, knocked down

The fight between former unified world heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz and former title challenger Chris Arreola has just concluded at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

Andy Ruiz took over the center of the ring and, after a little scouting, began to flash Arreola’s defenses with quick hands. In the second round, Ruiz boldly went ahead and Arreola caught him on a counterattack. After the combination, the veteran hit Ruiz on the head on the right and sent him to the canvas. The referee opened the scoring, but Ruiz was not seriously shocked. In the next three minutes, the underdog initiated an exchange and again touched the ex-champion, who could hardly stay on his feet. Nevertheless, Ruiz survived the storm and took the end of the spectacular round.

Ruiz fully recovered and again seized the initiative, throwing out quick combinations. The former champion worked well with a jab, alternating floors, although he himself occasionally missed from Arreola, who was trying to catch his opponent again.

After the equator, Ruiz finally felt like the master of the ring. In the eighth round, Arreola injured his left shoulder, but, despite this, continued to provide decent resistance to the favorite. In the tenth round, Ruiz hit with a hard hook, after which Arreola began to knead his left hand again. The underdog was tired and began to miss more and more often.

In the championship rounds, Ruiz’s advantage only increased. In the final three minutes, he rushed to the attack, but Arreola endured until the end, in general, showing much more in this battle than was originally expected of him.

Fight Result: Andy Ruiz def.Chris Arreola via unanimous decision (117-110, 118-109, 118-109)
