As a show jumper to Tokyo
Bruce Springsteen’s daughter is an Olympian
Her father achieved world fame as a rock musician. But Jessica Springsteen also has a lot to offer, albeit in a different discipline. She is one of the best show jumpers in the USA – and is now representing her country at the Olympic Games.
Bruce Springsteen can be very proud. His daughter Jessica Springsteen has qualified for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. This was announced by the US Equestrian Federation.
The 29-year-old has been riding for years and competes as a show jumper for the USA. She will fight for a medal with four other comrades-in-arms.
Even as a small child, the sportswoman was enthusiastic about horses. The American grew up on a ranch and started taking riding lessons when she was only five years old. The psychologist quickly celebrated her first successes and became one of the best show jumpers in the USA.
Last US gold in 2008
Jessica Springsteen’s riding team includes Laura Kraut, Kent Farrington and McLain Ward. The horse with which she wants to win a medal for the USA is called Don Juan van de Donkhoeve.
Most recently, the Americans won gold in show jumping in 2004 and 2008. After the 2020 Olympic Games had to be canceled due to the corona pandemic, they will now take place in Tokyo from July 23 to August 8.
Jessica Springsteen is from her famous father’s second marriage to Patti Scialfa. Bruce Springsteen married the member of his E Street Band in 1991. Before that, the singer’s first marriage to Julianne Phillips had failed with hits like “The River”, “Born in the USA” or “Streets of Philadelphia”.
In addition to daughter Jessica, Bruce Springsteen and Scialfa also have sons Evan and Samuel. While Evan Springsteen also tries his hand at singing, his younger brother works as a firefighter.
