In the violent riot at the Capitol in Washington, media representatives were attacked and harassed. A ZDF team had to hand over parts of its equipment, protesters were shown with a microphone in their hands. ZDF wrote on Twitter: “Our colleagues were driven away by the demonstrators, but are doing well. Some of the equipment was stolen.”
The topics of the day had broken off a live switch to the Capitol when more and more demonstrators approached the reporter.
Pictures from reporters for the American news site Buzzfeed show Trump supporters standing around a pile of technical equipment. Among other things, the sound equipment of a team from the AP news agency was taken away from the reporters. The bystanders would have shouted “We are the news now”.
