Caleb Plant: “I wanted to fight Canelo, but my team held me back”

The owner of the IBF middleweight title (up to 76.2 kg), American Caleb Plant (20-0-0, 12 KO) once again remembered the negotiations with the leader of the pound-for-pound rating, Mexican Saul Alvarez (54-1 -2, 36 KO), plucked early last year.

“I wanted this fight, and I raised my hand as this is the behavior of a fighter. But my manager, Luis DeCubas, felt he would pull the trigger if he released me into a fight of this magnitude with four or five weeks of preparation.

And I respect Luis for that, he is the best at what he does. He could have made a lot of money for this fight, but he did it in my best interest. I am a fighter and I am always ready to fight, but my team kept me, ”Plant said.
