Comeback after four years
Kevin Spacey is shooting in Italy
For four years, Hollywood star Kevin Spacey was almost completely in hiding. After several lawsuits on suspicion of sexual assault had been dropped, he is now making a film again for the first time. Spacey is in front of the camera in Italy for a supporting role.
Four years after the sexual assault allegations, US actor Kevin Spacey is working on his comeback. Now the shooting of the film “L’uomo che disegnò Dio” by the director Franco Nero began in Turin, northern Italy with Spacey in a supporting role, as the production company announced. A statement highlighted the “great return of the American to the cinema”.
The film, which translates as “The man who drew God”, is about a blind, old man who has the gift of drawing portraits of everyone whose voice he hears. His gift is known through a television show that makes him famous, but also leads to envy and resentment. Spacey plays a detective who is “willing to do whatever it takes to get his name on the map,” says the film’s summary.
Two-time Oscar winner Spacey had almost completely disappeared from the public eye since 2017 after several investigations into sexual assault were launched against him. His appearance in the film “Alles Geld der Welt” (2017) by director Ridley Scott was cut out. The streaming service Netflix terminated the collaboration with Spacey for the award-winning series “House of Cards”. The series ended without him.
Several plaintiffs went to court against Spacey, but some lawsuits were withdrawn or dismissed on account of statute of limitations. Last year in New York, two men accused the actor of molesting her as a minor in the 1980s.
