US leaders take emergency measures to stop the spread of the disease

Led by US Vice President Mike Pence, the Coronavirus Epidemic Working Group is holding a press conference on Sunday to take action by the administration to help those affected by the disease and stop its spread.

Opening the press conference, President Trump welcomed the Fed’s recent decision to cut interest rates to almost zero in order to mitigate the possible financial consequences of the epidemic.

The President praised the telephone conversation earlier on Sunday with food chain managers, during which measures to help the population were also discussed.

Trump expressed gratitude to the members of the working group on the fight against coronavirus.
Vice President Pence, who then spoke, emphasized that the administration does not have a higher priority than ensuring the health of Americans.

At the same time, the federal government and state authorities are focusing primarily on the most vulnerable groups, Pence said.

Touching upon the economic aspects of the situation, the vice president recalled that the American supply system is the most efficient in the world and it works.

Coronavirus testing is now available in all states of the country, Pence said.
The vice president pointed out the need for all Americans to work together to fight the epidemic.
Deputy Minister of Health Brett Giroir emphasized the importance of declaring a state of emergency to tackle the epidemic.

According to Giroira, testing for coronavirus in all states will begin tomorrow.

Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, described the measures taken today as entering a new phase in the fight against the epidemic.

And about. Head of the Ministry of Homeland Security Chad Wolfe informed the audience about measures taken to limit international air travel and passenger testing.

Answering a question about the possible introduction of restrictions on the activities of businesses and public catering enterprises, Vice President Pence said that instructions on this subject will appear on Monday.

Focusing on the economic aspects of confronting the epidemic, the vice president reiterated that no American worker should be afraid of being left without a salary due to the situation associated with the disease.
Recall that earlier President Trump declared Sunday March 15th National Prayer Day for all Americans affected by the coronavirus, and for the success of a nationwide effort to fight the disease.

The President called on adherents of all faiths and religious traditions to offer prayers for the victims, including people who have lost loved ones or suffered damage.

On the night of Friday to Saturday, the U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed a bill to allocate funding to fight coronavirus. Thanks to this, Americans must gain access to free tests and be able to take paid sick leave.

At the same time, a ban on flights to the United States from Europe came into force, introduced as part of a strategy to prevent the spread of the disease.

Earlier, Anthony Fauci said, speaking to reporters, that on Saturday in the United States 2226 cases of infection with a new coronavirus were registered, adding that the outbreak has not yet reached its peak.
