David Avanesyan can challenge the world title

European welterweight title holder David Avanesyan may fight for the world champion belt this year.

We will remind, last weekend the boxer from Russia won by technical knockout in a duel with the fighter from Great Britain Josh Kelly.

“For the fight with Kelly, I actually had four preparations due to the pandemic. I’m waiting for proposals, but Eddie Hearn said that I will either have a challenger fight or a full-fledged title fight. I hope that will be so. I am interested in all the versions, but I would like to return the title of WBA “, – quotes the words of Avanesyan by the TASS news agency.

The 32-year-old Avanesyan’s record is 27 wins (15 by KO), three defeats and one draw. In the past, the Russian held the interim WBA world title, which he won in a fight with Charlie Navarro. A year later, the World Boxing Association promoted Keith Thurman, an American, to the rank of World Super Champion, and declared Avanesyan regular, but the Russian could not defend the belt, losing in February 2017 to American Leymont Peterson on points.
