WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney reacted to numerous criticisms after his fight against Jorge Linares.
Last weekend, the young American did not easily beat the 35-year-old veteran by unanimous decision. Considering the not very strong jaw of the Venezuelan, Haney was expected to win an early victory, but Devin not only could not stop the opponent, but in the end of the fight he almost ended up on the canvas.
Despite the problems that arose in this fight, Haney is confident that even if the fight had turned out differently, critics would still find a reason to gloat.
“I box 12 rounds, and they say I’m boring and take no risks. I get the knockout of the year, and they say that I beat some unknown person. I fight one of the toughest punchers in the lightweight division, win the first nine rounds, and then I decide to try to accommodate him, but something else appears, “- wrote Devin Haney on his Twitter page.
