20-year-old super middleweight prospect Diego Pacheco talked about how he managed to become one of Saul Alvarez’s sparring partners. According to the young fighter, his height and arm span in many ways resembled Canelo Callum Smith. It was in order to imitate the British style that he was invited to Saul’s training camp.

“Sparring with Canelo was an incredible experience. He’s not just the leader of the pound-for-pound list. Even just being in the same room with him motivates me. It shows me that I have all the necessary skills to be at this level and compete with the strongest fighters, the best boxers in the world. “

“Canelo really liked the way I used my size and he left me in his training camp because I was doing exactly what he needed to fear in the fight with Callum Smith. I spent several weeks with Saul and I am sure I made him do a good job. “
