Eddie Hearn: “We want Canelo to fight Yildirim and then Saunders”

Eddie Hearn, head of Matchroom Boxing, has said he wants to fight WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders this year against WBA Super and WBC title holder Saul Alvarez.

“I think all the scripts are in development. I’m trying to get Saunders to fight Canelo. Alvarez got an offer to fight Avni Yildirim and Caleb Plant on FOX. We want Canelo to fight Yildirim, and then Saunders.”

This is the fight I want to organize, the biggest fight in boxing. I’m working on it. If Billy does not get this fight, he will fight Demetrius Andrade in the USA at the same time. So now he’s in a good position.

Canelo is a free agent, not affiliated with a specific translator. Given the success of the latest DAZN event, they will definitely want to bring it back. Let’s see what happens in the next few days, “said Eddie Hearn.
