Matthew Perry is single again
Matthew Perry can only just be seen at the big “Friends” reunion and stands out for his slurred language. Fans worry about the actor who used to struggle with his alcohol and drug addiction. Now the 51-year-old has also separated from his fiancée.
“Friends” star Matthew Perry has split up with his fiancée, 29-year-old literary manager Molly Hurwitz. “Sometimes it just doesn’t work, and here it is,” said the 51-year-old in a statement for People magazine. “I wish Molly the best.”
Matthew Perry and Molly Hurwitz had been a couple since 2018 and engaged since November 2020. At the time, Perry also raved in People magazine: “I decided to get engaged. Fortunately, at the time, I happened to be with the greatest woman on the planet.”
The sad news of Perry and Hurwitz’s breakup comes shortly after the premiere of the highly anticipated Friends reunion, where Perry reunited with his former co-stars from the hit NBC sitcom and aired last week. In addition to Perry, Courtney Cox, David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc, star guests such as Justin Bieber, Cara Delevingne and Lady Gaga were represented in the 105-minute special.
Fans continue to worry about Perry
Since then, Perry’s health has been the main concern of the fans. The reason for this was, among other things, the rather unclear pronunciation with which he stood out negatively in the special. In the past, the actor had repeatedly struggled with his alcohol and drug addiction and dealt with it openly. Five years ago he said in a BBC interview: “I can’t remember three years, somewhere between season 3 and season 6 I was a little signed off.” Many now believe that he may have relapsed.
Ben Winston, director and producer of the “Friends” reunion, however, backed the actor. It was an honor for him to be able to “guide” Perry. Apparently he could not find any problems during the shooting. “He seems to be stronger and fitter since I last saw him,” said Friends producer Kevin Bright in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
