Russell Crowe mourns his father

Russell Crowe wrote martial film history as a “Gladiator”. But no matter whether in the film or in real life – the death of the parents does not leave a mark on the greatest warrior. The actor says goodbye to his father with an emotional message.

Russell Crowe’s father, John Alexander Crowe, died just days after his 85th birthday. The Hollywood star explains on Twitter: “Although the sun is shining today and the pouring rain has subsided, this date will forever be associated with sadness.”

Crowe describes his father, who died in his hometown of Coffs Harbor, Australia, as a “wonderful” and “gentle man”. He posted this, said the 56-year-old, “because I know that there are people all over the world whose hearts he has touched” and who impressed his father with his “sparkling eyes” and his “cheeky manner”.

Crowe also reveals that his father lived in Coffs Harbor for the past 25 years. The family were originally from Wellington, New Zealand, but moved to Australia when Russell Crowe was four years old. The actor’s parents worked as caterers for film sets. The father also ran a hotel.

Rolle in “Thor: Love and Thunder”

Alongside this sad news, however, there is also good news from Russell Crowe. So he is currently working in Australia. According to media reports, he is said to have taken on a small role in the new Marvel flick “Thor: Love and Thunder”. In the film, Chris Hemsworth will slip back into the role of Thor. Natalie Portman returns as Jane Foster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie. Christian Bale is said to play the villain “Gorr the God Butcher”. Stars from the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films – including Chris Pratt – are also there.

Russell Crowe has been an actor since the 1980s. Best known is probably his role in the historical epic “Gladiator”, which director Ridley Scott captured on the big screen in 2000. Since then, Crowe has appeared in various blockbusters.
