Former world champion Gilberto Ramirez (41-0, 27 KOs) commented on the upcoming fight with Cuban Sullivan Barrera (22-3, 14 KOs), which will take place on July 9 in Los Angeles.

“I am very excited to be making my debut under the Golden Boy promotion,” Ramirez said. “Los Angeles is home to many Hispanics and I can’t wait to share this moment with my people.

Each fight is the most important in my career. I will not open America if I say that my goal is to dominate the division and become the world champion. And I’m sure this fight with Barrera is a step in the right direction.

Barrera is a seasoned Cuban veteran with a wealth of experience in the world-class arena. He has fought the best in the past and showed why he fought for the title so often. He even has a dominant win over reigning WBO champion Joe Smith Jr. “
