New York Federal Court begins hearing on defendant’s complicity with deceased financier Jeffrey Epstein
At a hearing in the Manhattan federal court, Gileyn Maxwell pleaded not guilty to complicity in child molester Jeffrey Epstein. The hearing was scheduled after 58-year-old Maxwell was arrested on July 2 in New Hampshire and placed in a New York pretrial detention center on charges of sex trafficking and perjury. According to the prosecutor’s office, in the mid-1990s, she received large sums, luring the girls to Epstein, at that time to a major finsist.
Recall that later Epstein committed suicide in a New York prison.
Currently, Gileyn Maxwell is in the temporary detention center in Brooklyn, from where, by video link, she took part in a court hearing. Judge Alison Nathan has not yet decided whether to transfer her to house arrest with electronic surveillance and a $ 5 million bail. The prosecution opposes this, suspecting that the defendant has intentions not to wait for the verdict and to flee the United States, especially since Maxwell also has British and French citizenship.
