A big night of boxing took place on the night of May 1-2 at Dignity Health Sports Park Arena in Carson, California, leading the bout between former unified world heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz and ex-title challenger Chris Arreola. In a 12-round uncompromising confrontation, Ruiz won by unanimous decision, surviving a knockdown in the second three minutes.
As evidenced by the statistics of the CompuBox system, Ruiz threw 626 punches, of which 161 were accurate. Arreola punched 521 times, while 109 of his punches reached the goal.
The heavyweight veteran hit more accurate shots in the second and third rounds, but in each of the next three minutes Ruiz hit more often. On account of Ruiz 55 jabs and 106 power punches, while Arreola reported 34 jabs and 75 power punches.
