Hollywood star becomes wedding speaker: Jamie Lee Curtis fulfills fan last wish

Actually, Anthony Woodle should only be surprised with a private screening of his favorite film. But Jamie Lee Curtis has another surprise in store for the cancer patient: Shortly before his death, the “Halloween” actress wed him to his girlfriend.

Big gesture from actress Jamie Lee Curtis. The star of the “Halloween” film series has granted a 29-year-old fan suffering from cancer his last wish. Via telephone she declared Anthony Woodle, who was lying on his deathbed, and his long-time friend Emilee Stickel husband and wife.

Woodle, a huge “Halloween” fan and director of a local cinema, proposed to his partner in 2016. He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2019, followed by chemotherapy and radiation. But Woodle’s condition worsened, reports The Post and Courier, a daily from Charleston, South Carolina, the tragic story.

Cinema owner Paul Brown, Woodles boss, wanted to please the 29-year-old. He contacted director David Gordon Green, who is responsible for the sequel “Halloween Kills”. It should appear in cinemas in 2021. Brown’s request: a private screening of the new flick for Woodle. Green agreed – and Curtis became aware of the cancer fan.

“May your heart light up”

The 61-year-old contacted Woodle, they spoke on the phone and discussed the couple’s wedding plans. Then the surprise: Curtis offered to conduct the wedding in person. The time had come on September 13th. Woodle’s health had deteriorated dramatically by then. When Curtis started to get married at 10:30 pm on the phone, he was passed out.

“Anthony and Emilee, all that is promised to everyone is this moment,” Curtis is quoted as saying by the newspaper. “We live and love in this moment. May the blessings of God rest on you, may his peace be with you, may his spirit illuminate your heart now, in this moment I take great pleasure in informing you that you are now married. ” Just minutes after that, at 11:17 p.m., Woodle lost the battle with cancer.
