Thanks to the cult Soviet films “Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath!” and “Office Romance” Andrei Myagkov was remembered by the audience as an indecisive and gentle, but kind and decent movie hero. Few know what the actor really was. The fact is that Myagkov is a rather closed person, does not like publicity and does not advertise his personal life. And Andrei Vasilievich, unlike many of his characters, is a very serious person. Despite the fact that it was the role of Zhenya Lukashin that brought the actor fame and nationwide love, Andrei Myagkov himself, after the release of the film, lamented that the image of Lukashin, who loves gatherings in a bath with alcohol and is capable of extravagant actions, has forever stuck to him. Meanwhile, the actor himself does not favor such entertainment. The artist considers his best role to be the role of Alyosha in the film “The Brothers Karamazov”. In post-perestroika times, Myagkov began to appear in films less and less, explaining this by the fact that modern cinema shamelessly imitates the American one, losing the cordiality and warmth inherent in Soviet films. The last film with the participation of Andrei Vasilyevich was released in 2010.
With his wife, actress Anastasia Voznesenskaya, the actor met while still studying at the Moscow Art Theater School. They married in 1963 and have remained inseparable ever since. In February 2021, Andrei Myagkov passed away.
The role of Nadya Sheveleva brought popularity to the Polish actress in the USSR. Not everyone knows why Barbara Brylska was chosen for this role, because in the Soviet Union there were many of its wonderful actresses. In fact, the main character could have been played by Lyudmila Gurchenko, Alisa Freindlikh, Svetlana Nemolyaeva or many other artists who auditioned for the role of Nadia. However, Eldar Ryazanov, with all due respect to the talent of these actresses, believed that they could not create the desired image. After long auditions and auditions, the director suddenly remembered the Polish melodrama Grey’s Anatomy, in which Barbara Brylska played the main role. Ryazanov contacted the actress, the script interested her, and she agreed to fly to the audition, as a result of which Ryazanov finally found the heroine he was looking for.
After the film “Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath!” Barbara Brylska did not appear on Russian screens for a long time, acting in Polish, Czech, German cinema. In 1988, the actress played a role in the Soviet drama “The Hour of the Full Moon”, but the film did not gain popularity.
In 2001, Brylska played in the popular Russian film Down House, and then in a number of other domestic films, including the Irony of Fate. Continuation “.
The personal life of the actress was not easy. Brylska was married several times, but family life did not bring her happiness. The first husband did not perceive the career of an actress, the marriage quickly disintegrated. The second marriage was also unsuccessful. After that, Barbara Brylska met the Yugoslav actor Slobodan Dmitrievich, whom she fell madly in love with. However, the marriage did not take place. The third husband was caught by Barbara in numerous infidelities, the actress divorced after 18 years of marriage. In this marriage, the actress gave birth to two children, a daughter and a son. Brylsky’s daughter died tragically at the age of 21 as a result of an accident. Now Barbara is 79 years old.

The role of Ippolit in the cult comedy was originally intended for Oleg Basilashvili, who had already starred in several episodes of the film, but the death of his father changed the actor’s plans, and he was forced to give up filming. Then Ryazanov invited Yuri Yakovlev. The episodes with Basilashvili’s participation were re-filmed, with the exception of the moment when Nadia picks up the photograph of Ippolit that Zhenya Lukashin had thrown out the window earlier. The picture depicts Basilashvili, the frame was not taken again due to the fact that spring had come and there was no longer snow on the streets.
Now we no longer know how we would have seen Oleg Basilashvili in the role of Ippolit, but, undoubtedly, the image created by Yuri Yakovlev became one of the brightest and most colorful in the film “Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath!” On the set, the artist successfully improvised, giving his hero maximum color.
So, for example, the famous phrases that have become winged – “What disgusting your aspic fish” and “Oh, lukewarm went” – were not in the script, they were invented by Yuri Yakovlev himself.
After filming the film, the actor continued a successful career in theater and cinema. He has received many awards. One of the last roles in cinema for Yuri Yakovlev was the role in the sequel to The Irony of Fate in 2007. After that, the actor starred only once. In 2013, Yuri Yakovlev died at the age of 85 after a long illness.
The actor was married three times. The first two marriages were not too long, the actor lived with his third wife to the end. After himself, Yuri Yakovlev left two sons and a daughter, two of them, like a father, linked their lives with an acting career. One son became a businessman.
For the actress Olga Naumenko, the role of Gali, the unlucky bride of Zhenya Lukashin, in the film “The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath!” became one of the most significant roles in her acting career. After the release of the comedy, the actress continued to actively act in theater and cinema, but, unfortunately, most of her roles remained secondary.
Since 2014, Olga Naumenko hosted the talk show “Your Business” on Channel One.
The actress was married once, her marriage lasted 32 years, until the death of her husband. The only daughter, Svetlana, who works as a journalist, was born in marriage. Now Olga Naumenko is 71 years old, for 2 years as an artist has not appeared on the stage and cinema screens in new roles.
Actress Lyubov Dobrzhanskaya played in “The Irony of Fate” the “understanding” mother of the protagonist of the film, Zhenya Lukashin. At the time of filming the film, she was about 70 years old – the exact year of her birth is unknown – and this role was one of the last she played. Lyubov Ivanovna died in 1980, five years after the premiere of the cult comedy.
On the account of the actress there were just over a dozen film roles and many theatrical roles. In addition to Lukashin’s mother, the actress played the role of another famous mother – the mother of the main character in the film “Beware of the Car” by Yuri Detochkin. Her work has received many awards. Little is known about the personal life of Lyubov Dobrzhanskaya.

It was thanks to her participation in the films of Eldar Ryazanov that the actress earned her popularity and national love. And the role of the friend of the main character in the film “Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath!”, Albeit a minor one, became one of the first steps of the actress on her way to fame. Films “Office Romance”, “Garage”, “Old Nags”, “Promised Heaven” revealed the talent of the actress and brought her all-Russian fame.
In addition to the many created screen images, the actress is known for her active civic position. At the age of ten, watching her mother and aunt die of tuberculosis, little Leah decided to write a letter to Stalin himself. The leader gave the go-ahead for the delivery of a rare expensive medicine from abroad. Akhedzhakova opposed the war in Chechnya, publicly condemned the law prohibiting the adoption of Russian children by US citizens, and repeatedly participated in various rallies. The artist is not afraid to speak out with open criticism of certain decisions of the authorities. Currently, the actress is happy in her third marriage, but Akhedzhakova has no children. Now the actress is 82 years old.
