Insider: Bob Arum paid Terence Crawford $ 2 million in addition to disrupting the fight with Spence

Interesting insider information from the Top Rank camp.

According to The Athletic journalist Mike Coppinger, WBO welterweight champion (up to 66.7 kg), American Terence Crawford (37-0-0, 28 KO) twice received compensation for the breakdown of the organization of the unification match with the owner of WBC / IBF titles, compatriot Errol Spence junior (26-0-0, 21 KO).

This first happened before Crawford’s fight with Lithuanian challenger Egis Kavaliauskas (22-1-1, 18 KO) last December, when the fighter demanded an additional million for a mediocre opponent. The situation repeated itself with today’s meeting against the Briton Kell Brook (39-3-0, 27 KO).

“Bob Arum agreed to pay Terence Crawford $ 1 million in case he doesn’t fight Errol Spence in 2020. The same bonus was included in the contract for the fight with Kavaliauskas, “Coppinger wrote on his Twitter.
