Jervonta Davis: “Our fight with Garcia is like a fight between Mayweather and De La Hoya”

Regular WBA lightweight champion Jervonta Davis has announced that he wants to face off against challenger Ryan Garcia in May this year. At the same time, “Tank” boldly compared their fight with the legendary confrontation between Floyd Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya.

“I called Ryan 10 minutes before his fight with Campbell. I had his number. One of Ryan’s girls gave it to me. I told him to sort things out, he needed it. He was shocked that I was on the wire and then said, “Okay.”

I think we can fight in May. The fight won’t take place in September, although I don’t know. It’s not important for me. I will fight him whenever I want.

We are on different cultural levels. So our fight is like a duel between Mayweather and De La Hoya, and it was big. We fight at a young age. We will not put up a fight when we are 35. I do not criticize them, but we fight while young and active, “said Gervonta Davis.
