The American actress is unhappy with a breach of contract.
This Thursday, July 29, on-screen Natasha Romanoff filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles court against Disney. The reason was that the media mogul released the Black Widow movie comic strip on its own streaming service, Collider reports.
According to Scarlett Johansson’s contract, she was guaranteed an exclusive release of the film in cinemas, and her fee was directly dependent on the success at the box office.
The 36-year-old actress’s lawsuit states that Disney deliberately prompted Marvel to violate the agreement without reason, which prevented Johansson from taking full advantage of the deal.
Recall, “Black Widow” showed the largest drop in box office among MCU films after a promising start. It also made over $ 60 million from Disney +.
Johansson previously suspected that the case could take a similar turn, so she called on Disney to reconsider the agreement, but the appeal of its representatives in the letter was ignored.
Company representatives have already responded to Scarlett Johansson’s lawsuit. Disney has denied that it has violated the treaty in any way and has described it as sad that justice is “heartlessly ignoring” the dire and lasting effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
