Contrary to all speculation, Lara Trump has no ambitions for a seat in the Senate. The daughter-in-law of the ex-president does not want to rule out a political career entirely.
At an election rally in Greenville, the daughter-in-law of ex-President Donald Trump, Lara Trump, rejected a candidacy for the Senate. The South California-born was considered by some supporters of the former president as a possible successor in the Trump dynasty. Her children would have convinced her not to start the race next year.
Southern California is currently represented in the Senate by Richard Burr, a Republican who is seen as an opponent of Trump. However, Burr had already announced in 2016 that he would no longer run for the Senate seat in 2022.
It had been speculated that Trump would nominate his daughter-in-law for this office and support him in the election campaign. In his speech, however, he suggested Congressman Ted Budd.
Lara Trump does not want to give up her political ambitions entirely. “I’m saying no now, but not forever,” she said during the event.
