Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerby does not see Saul Alvarez number one in the pound-for-pound rankings, preferring Mexican WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford.

“I still say it’s Terence Crawford,” Ellerby said. “I know he’s not the most active fighter, but while saying this, I don’t want to take anything away from Alvarez. However, look at the level of the guys Canelo recently fought and face it. We all know who he recently boxed – and this has nothing to do with his fighting qualities, because I sincerely consider him a great boxer – but there are guys who will give him a much more difficult fight than the few with whom he fought not so long ago.

I’m not saying he avoids any of these guys. I am not even hinting at this, but I would like to see how he manifests himself with [Калебом] Plantom, [Джермаллом] Charlo and [Дэвидом] Benavidez. I would love to watch these fights. I don’t want to see fights with [Авни] Lightning and [Билли Джо] Saundersom.

I don’t need this kind of fights as I know what it is like when you fight a big and strong fighter who will not back down, continuing to pound your ass all night long. I know how it feels. “
