Russian light heavyweight Maxim Vlasov, who will fight American Joe Smith for the vacant WBO title on April 10, believes that he did not suffer from coronavirus in February, although then, due to his positive test, their fight was postponed from February 13 to April.

I didn’t have to recover from COVID because I had absolutely no symptoms. I think that at that moment I did not have any coronavirus. Perhaps there were some traces of a past symptomatic illness, but it was at that moment that I felt absolutely healthy and was 100% ready for battle. It was just that the test showed the presence of this virus, and the fight was canceled.

The most difficult thing was probably to compensate for this downtime, which arose in connection with the daily quarantine in which I was in Las Vegas. Then there was a flight home, acclimatization. Everything was connected with moments outside the training process – flights, acclimatization and recovery after these events, “- said Maxim Vlasov during a virtual press conference before the fight with Smith.

We will remind, Vlasov also said that he was shocked by the COVID-19 found in him.
