According to BoxingScene.com, citing its sources, the World Boxing Organization (WBO) made concessions to its heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua and no longer demands that he make a mandatory defense against Alexander Usik before the fight for the title of absolute world champion against the owner Tyson Fury WBC Belt.

The publication reports that now the Ukrainian can fight for the interim WBO title with Briton Joe Joyce. According to media reports, boxing teams are negotiating a fight.

Sources BoxingScene.com said that the winner of the Joshua-Fury fight will have to face the winner of the Usyk-Joyce fight. Compulsory defense must take place within 180 days from the date of the determination of the interim champion. If the newly minted undisputed champion refuses to carry out the obligatory defense, then the winner of the Usyk-Joyce fight will be recognized as the WBO heavyweight champion.
