Netflix buys Kanye West documentary for $ 30 million

The streaming service will reveal the story of the 43-year-old rapper.

Western media reported that a documentary series about Kanye West will soon appear on Netflix. According to some reports, behind-the-scenes footage of Kanye’s life has been documented for the past 20 years. The new project will be led by Clarence “Kudi” Simmons and Chike Oza, who have directed two of Kanye’s music videos in the past.

Insiders claim that this is not a full-length film, but a multi-part tape. Billboard said the deal was worth $ 30 million, but ET suspects the figure is not entirely accurate.

Information about the series about Kanye appeared against the background of news about his divorce from Kim Kardashian and the upcoming finale of the reality show “The Kardashian Family”. Thus, while Kim disappears from TV screens, West will start earning popularity of streaming viewers. Netflix has previously released documentaries about famous artists such as Taylor Swift and Shawn Mendes.

Although West has appeared several times on episodes of his wife’s reality TV show, he has largely kept his personal life under wraps. The more interesting the upcoming episodes will be.

We will remind, Kardashian filed for divorce in February, and last month, ET learned that Kanye “did not speak to Kim” after filing the application. It is expected that the problems in their family and some details of the breakup will be revealed in the finale of “The Kardashian Family”.
