The topic of the conference was devoted to Black History Month. In general, this literary circle, with the help of poetry, is trying to increase literacy and empower young people in more than 100 schools in the United States. The curriculum allows you not only to study classical works, but also write your own.
The children were dumbfounded. Get Lit posted a screenshot of their surprised faces on its social networks.
“It was the best weekend of my life! Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, turned out to be simply magical, kind and interested in poetry. The kids shared poems, asked questions and interacted well with Harry and Megan, who actually learned the children’s biographies of the participants, received a little earlier, ”wrote Get Lit Community Manager Mason Granger.
During the meeting, the Duchess of Sussex also recited her favorite poem by Naiira Wahid, dedicated to women. The meeting lasted 45 minutes, but, as the children later wrote in the comments, it became just an unforgettable event.
