According to research firm Strategy Analytics, sales of smart speakers in the third quarter of this year showed a slight increase of 2.6% compared to last year. At the same time, it is noted that sales of devices equipped with displays, which also fall into this category, showed an increase of 21%. Their sales volume reached 9.5 million units, which allowed this category of devices to take a share of 26% of total sales. Consumers are increasingly choosing devices with more functionality than just a speaker with voice control. The leaders in this market are Amazon and Baidu devices. Amazon accounts for 28.8% of smart speaker sales. The best-selling device in the third quarter was the Amazon Echo Show 5 display speaker, followed by the Baidu Xiaodu Zaijia 1c smart device. Separately, it is noted that in the first half of the year, the smart speaker market was hit hard as a result of blockages caused by the coronavirus pandemic, and is now experiencing an active recovery.
