The fight between Oscar Valdez and Miguel Berchelt received a new date

The long-suffering fight between WBC featherweight champion Miguel Berchelt and ex-champion Oscar Valdez has received a new date. According to promoter Top Rank, the bout will take place on February 20th and will head off a big boxing night featuring Gabriel Flores versus former title holder Andrew Cancio.

Recall that Valdez and Berchelt waited over a year to finally split the ring. Note that the boxers were supposed to fight in the spring of 2019, but the sudden outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic did not allow this to come true. In the end, each of the fighters went his own way: in June, Berchelt issued an early victory over compatriot Eleazar Valenzuela, while the undefeated Valdez stopped the Puerto Rican Jason Velez in ten rounds a month later.

A little later, Top Rank once again tried to organize a fight between two Mexican sluggers in December, but Burchelt tested positive for COVID-19, which is why the fight was again canceled.
