On the eve of the start of the 74th festival in a row, we recall which of the stars received a fashion deuce.

The other day in France started another festival of cinema and haute couture: Cannes is hosting the 74th festival in a row. An event of this scale was the first in the past year and a half – the coronavirus literally deprived the French and the rest of the world of the opportunity to enjoy the red carpet and the work of outstanding directors.

For the first time, the Cannes Film Festival started in 1946. It is not surprising that over so many years, photographers have managed to accumulate hundreds of pictures with not the most successful images.

PopCornNews recalls what the most ridiculous outfits looked like, and aggressively asks not to repeat this – the tricks are done by professionals!

The first number is the “trash” dress, which has already become the talk of the town. In a dress made of recycled plastic (and more specifically, from plastic packaging), designer Larisa Katz came out in 2015. It is noteworthy that Katz tried to make the outfit look like a real princess dress – a long train and a corset shining in gold became the highlight of the image.

In 2021, under the conditions of conscious consumption, this image would be highly appreciated not only by fashionistas, but also by eco-activists. I wonder how heavy this outfit was and did it rumble when walking?

The second number will be Kylie Minogue and her extremely short “stripper dress” from 2007. Spectacular, sexy singer took to the red carpet in a dress with transparent inserts from the chest to the lower abdomen. Due to the soft bones of the corset and the awkward skirt, the dress literally destroyed the silhouette of the singer, and the transparent fabric below showed the world an imperfect belly.

Indian actress Deepika Padukone took to the red carpet at Cannes 2018 in a lush, see-through outfit from Ashi Studio. At first, this image pleasantly surprised everyone with its richness of color and originality of forms, but later, when the audience saw how difficult it was for the actress to move around in this dress, he was immediately nicknamed “jellyfish”.

Extreme cuts and stunning cleavages have been all the rage. However, Barbara Meyer and Nina K managed to surprise the sophisticated audience. The 34-year-old German model and actress chose a flying, dusty pink dress with an extreme cutout without underwear, while the fashion designer chose to emphasize a lush bust with a scarlet boa pinned to the sleeves. If in the first case the dress simply merged with Meyer’s skin color, then in the case of Nina, the fashion experts threw up their hands, because it was obvious to everyone that the red accent literally makes the outfit cheaper, makes it awkward and tasteless.

Not the most successful images were shown to the public by Laetitia Casta and Sophie Marceau in 2015. Both actresses took to the red carpet in dresses in classic colors – black and white. At the same time, celebrities flatly refused underwear, which is why the beauties’ breasts “drowned”.

Later, fashion critics noted: the silhouette of Caste became like a boy’s due to massive shoulders and a dubious “triangle” on top, and Marceau should have supported his chest with straps. It is noteworthy that Sophie could not decide on a skirt or trousers either, so the lower part of the image is both a hem and a trouser leg.

Maya Henry and Madison Hedrick’s 2019 outfits were a “fluffy” failure. In the first case, the star chose a dress entirely made of artificial feathers of an “annoying” pale pink color. To look as sexy as possible, Henry bared her tender shoulder and legs, which is why she was rated “extremely defiant”.

Hedrick reduced the cost of the image not only due to feathers on the waist, but also due to the shiny fabric on the hem, which looked quite massive – as if someone was pouring tar.

Sarah Michelle Gellar from 2006 closes the collection in a dress with a mermaid hem and floral accents at the waist. Due to the voluminous skirt starting from the waist itself, in profile it could seem that the American actress was expecting a baby – the assemblies visually added volume in the abdomen.

The very combination of black and cream was called unsuccessful by critics, and the asymmetry in the sleeves-wings and the fit of the belt created an imbalance in the figure.
