Mercedes-Benz USA inadvertently reveals customer data
A bad mistake is with Mercedes-Benz happens: the US subsidiary has announced that sensitive personal data of almost 1000 customers and prospective buyers were accidentally made publicly accessible on a cloud storage platform at short notice. The data was not misused.
The information includes, among other things, driver’s license and social security numbers as well as credit card information that was entered by customers on dealer and company websites between January 2014 and June 2017. According to the company, all those affected will be offered a free, two-year subscription to a credit monitoring service.
