USA prefer date
Biden steps on the gas for everyone when vaccinating
The US vaccination campaign is making such progress that US President Biden plans to give all adults the chance to vaccinate in less than two weeks. The actual date is brought forward by twelve days.
In the USA, all adults should be entitled to a corona vaccination in two weeks. As a representative of the White House confirmed, from April 19, all adults regardless of age, occupation and possible previous illnesses should be able to register for a vaccination. Previously, President Joe Biden had set May 1 as a target.
However, the nationwide vaccination campaign is making rapid progress. Most recently, an average of more than three million people per day were vaccinated. Since the campaign began in December, more than 107 million people have received at least one dose of vaccine, and more than 62 million of them have been vaccinated. This means that 40 percent of the adult population and 75 percent of the over-65s have already received at least one dose, and 23 and 55 percent, respectively, have been vaccinated.
Biden had declared the fight against the pandemic and an acceleration of the vaccination campaign to be the most urgent tasks after taking office in January. Today the president plans to visit a vaccination center in the state of Virginia, bordering the capital, Washington, and later comment on vaccinations. The President wants to announce April 19 as the date for the lifting of the vaccination restrictions for adults, as the White House confirmed a report by the news channel CNN.
The US had initially started vaccinating seniors, health workers and people from other risk groups. Rapid advances in vaccinations are raising hopes in the United States of a speedy return to normality. At the same time, the government and experts are concerned about a renewed increase in the number of infections in the past week. Biden has repeatedly called on the population not to slacken and not to be careless in the fight against the pandemic.
In the USA, more than 555,000 people have died as a result of a corona infection. More than 30.8 million infections have been registered since the beginning of the pandemic. These are by far the highest numbers in the world.
