USA stops issuing visas in Turkey

The USA initially no longer wants to issue entry permits to Turks. The reason are reports of possible terrorist attacks against US citizens in Turkey.

The US is temporarily suspending its visa issuance in Turkey because of “credible reports of possible terrorist attacks”. The embassy in Ankara announced this in a statement on its website on Friday. These attacks could target US citizens, other foreigners in Istanbul and the US consulate.

The message also warns against increased caution in places in Turkey where many Americans or foreigners come together, such as shopping malls. The services of the embassy and consulates would be temporarily suspended.

The termination of the visa services affects all diplomatic missions in the country, in addition to the embassy, the consulates in Istanbul, Adana and Izmir.
