According to journalist Lance Pugmire, the head of the Golden Boy promotion company, Oscar De La Hoya, paid a visit to Top Rank boss Bob Arum, where, in particular, they discussed a potential fight between American welterweights Terence Crawford (37-0-0, 28 KO) and Virgil Ortiz Jr. (16-0-0, 16 KO).

“Bob Arum said that he had a meeting with Oscar De La Hoya and Eric Gomez, which was more personal than business. Some joint fights were discussed, including the meeting of Terence Crawford and Virgil Ortiz Jr., “Pugmire wrote on his Twitter.

Ortiz, currently ranked 2nd in the WBO rankings, may well qualify for a fight with the reigning champion Crawford, but first he needs to pass his teammate Maurice Hooker (27-1-3, 18 KO), the fight with which is scheduled for 20 Martha.
