InkPalm Technology, part of the Xiaomi manufacturing eco-system, has released a miniature e-reader InkPalm 5. The book turned out to be quite thin and light: 6.9 mm thick, weight – 115 g. The device screen diagonal is 5.2-inches, resolution – 1280 x 720 pixels (pixel density – 284 ppi). The screen in the book is covered with glass, which greatly improves the sensitivity of the touch response. There is a touch key at the bottom of the screen that supports customizable commands when pressed. It also supports 24-level backlight temperature control, which in turn can be selected from two colors.
A quad-core processor coupled with 1 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory is responsible for the performance in the device. The book is powered by a 1400 mAh battery, and the Android 8.1 OS is responsible for the device’s operation. It is noted that InkPalm 5 supports the installation of third-party applications, as well as the import of e-books. The device is currently being offered on the Youpin platform for 599 Yuan (about $ 91). The release of the global version has not yet been reported.
